Whether you've never written a song before or you’re a songwriter looking to refresh your approach, this program is for you.

After two decades of songwriting, and a decade of creating transformative theatre with non-actors from marginalised communities at Rebus Theatre, I’ve witnessed the incredible power of storytelling to inspire, heal, and connect. As a singer-songwriter with years of experience crafting award-winning indie folk music and a lifetime of channelling my own emotions into melody, I know firsthand how music can help us process, express, and share our stories.

That’s why I’ve created Songwriting for Non-Songwriters, an online community for people looking to develop a new skill, hobby, or way to just get those feelings out.

You don’t need a background in music to participate—just a love for storytelling and the courage to explore your creativity. Together, we’ll break down the fundamentals of songwriting into simple, actionable steps that anyone can follow. By the end of the program, you’ll have your own song to share and a newfound confidence in expressing yourself.

What’s Included in the Program?
The Songwriting for Non-Songwriters program is thoughtfully designed to fit into busy lives while providing a comprehensive and engaging experience. Over the course of three months, participants will receive:
· 5 x 2.5hr Online Group Sessions: Interactive and inspiring group workshops where you’ll learn the fundamentals of songwriting in a supportive and collaborative environment. These sessions will cover everything from crafting lyrics to creating melodies, and you’ll have the chance to share ideas, ask questions, and gain feedback. The first round of sessions will be held fortnightly from 6-8pm Mondays from March 17th. Each session will be recorded and available to watch later if you have to miss one.
· 1-Hour One-on-One Session with Me: A personalized coaching session tailored to your individual goals and progress. Whether you need help refining your song, overcoming creative blocks, or diving deeper into a specific aspect of songwriting, this session is all about you.
· Around 15 Hours Total Over 3 Months: This program is structured to provide plenty of time to explore and apply what you’ve learned at your own pace, without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
This combination of group collaboration and individual focus ensures that you’ll not only learn the basics of songwriting but also receive the personal attention and guidance you need to create something truly meaningful. By the end of the program, you’ll have your own completed song—and a deeper appreciation for your own creative potential!
